Going All The Way

I would like to start with the moral of this article.

If you wish to achieve your goals, then you need a plan for exactly how you are going to implement them.

We all have goals we wish to achieve, habits we would like to adapt or replace, various ambitions and plans. Experience has unfortunately also taught us that most of these goals, in spite of our motivations and genuine intentions, tend to evaporate.

When it’s time to implement the goal but there is no plan of how to carry it out, we find ourselves postponing it and constantly pushing it aside.

Wouldn’t it be great if this time the result would be different?

Understanding this need, Points of You® developed The Coaching Game, Faces and Punctum. All three games fit the following process:

Choose an important goal you hope to achieve.

The goal can be from any topic you choose, such as relationship, parenting, work, self-improvement etc…

Write down on a ticket the goal you decided to focus on.

Randomly or openly select three cards.

There are two options for working with the cards. The first option is Face Up meaning we can choose the cards we wish to work with. This option on the one hand, neutralizes resistance from the unknown however is more time consuming since we put thought into which card we would like to work with. In addition, the act of choosing in face-up mode is a conscious decision and usually does not enable topics of which the participant is not consciously aware of to rise to the surface.

The second option is Face Down meaning the cards are unseen and therefore randomly picked. This option enables us to open up to another perspective on our life that did not previously lie in our field of vision however, may be less effective for those whom randomness clashes with their logical tendencies and can therefore generate resistance.

Both options work great! It is up to you to decide which one you prefer.

Back to the process –

Work according to the following order:

1. What’s preventing / stopping me from achieving my goal?

2. What brings me closer to my goal?

3. What do I need to express in order to achieve my goal?

Write down your main insight from the process on a ticket and then write three actions expressing your insight that can help bring you closer to achieving your goal.

The insight and the actions should include your way of implementation (time, place, frequency etc.)

We recommend the following 3 actions:

  • One for the next 24 hours
  • The second for the upcoming week
  • The third for the upcoming month

Enjoy the process and the outcome!
